I began my photography career as a fashion photographer. Christy was a model who worked around the world. The top shot was our first date back in the '70's. The lower shot is us now. We work as a team these days. Christy's experience in front of the camera and also designing and building custom homes for a decade (Give or take a few months) up in North Scottsdale, AZ has given her a great eye for detail and a perspective on creativity that I think is pretty amazing. Add that to my experience and I think we make a pretty darn good team for real estate photography. If you would like to see some of our work other than real estate you can check out www.simonphotographic.net and www.willoart.com.
While I was in the process of putting this site together, showing it to friends, asking for opinions, I had a buddy of mine ask me, “Why real estate? You shoot cool stuff all over the country!”
For lack of a more in depth response, I just said, “I like it, it’s fun.”
Later, as I sat at my computer, I realized that was a pretty darn accurate explanation after all. The reason I’m going after this area of photography a bit more aggressively is simply because I enjoy it. I enjoy the process, it works well with my desire to spend more time at home in Tucson and the desert I love. I meet some great people, and, I get to see some pretty cool homes. There are some great homes here in the Southwest and I really have fun when I get to photograph them.
So, that’s about it for my About page. I’m wanting to take my 4+ decades of experience photographing pretty much anything imaginable and use it to spend more time at home, work with my desert dwelling neighbors, and make some art photographing homes. Granted, I’ve been shooting homes ever since I had Architectural Digest for a client back in the ‘80’s, but now I want to focus on it more. I think it will be a win/win for everyone.
